The other day, I saw this cartoon in my Facebook memories (I originally posted it in 2015):

Pretty funny, right?

But it reminds me of something Jay Abraham said.

He said that your business’ biggest problem might be someone else’s solution.

So, in the cartoon, the hunter wanted a pet and the wolf wanted someone else to do his hunting.

In business, you want clients…and some other business has those clients and is looking for ways to monetise them.

The most obvious example of this would be affiliate marketing.

Say someone has an email list of golf fanatics – and they want things to sell to that list. Someone else sells “How to improve your putting” videos – and they want to advertise those videos to golf fanatics.

They can solve each other’s problems.

And the same principle can be used in service businesses.

If you’re an SEO agency and your clients want help with their PPC, you can offer that service – even though you don’t do PPC – then find a PPC person to do the work.

The client gets the PPC work done, the agency gets paid, the PPC person gets a client. Everyone’s the solution to someone else’s problem.

(I’ve had agencies hire me to be part of their team because they didn’t have a PPC person…or because it was a really difficult project and they needed someone with a lot of experience.)

So think about your own business and what problems you’d like to solve. Who would benefit from being the solution to those problems?

All the best,

Steve Gibson
